Reviewing Tiles

If you need to review data tiles and make QC calls as part of an orthophoto quality control process, your inSITE administrator must assign you a screener or reviewer role. For more information on quality control roles, please see Cloud-Based Quality Control Overview. If you need assistance with a role assignment, please contact your organization’s inSITE administrator.

Reviewing Tiles

Click the Search button to open the Search panel, and make sure the Search tab is active. If you selected a tile by Searching, the tile will already be active in the map, and the tile number will appear in the Tile Number or Image Number box in the Review Widget.

To select a different tile without searching again, navigate to the tile you want to review in the map window. Click the selection tool in the Review Widget then click on the map inside the boundary for tile you want to review.

Navigate in the map to review the tile. If you find no anomalies or issues in the map during your review, click Complete to pass the tile and finish your review. If you quickly find a large number of anomalies or an anomaly that affects the entire tile, click Fail to fail the entire tile and finish your review. If you find one or more anomalies, proceed to creating QC calls.

Creating QC Calls

QC calls are georeferenced tags that reviewers use to identify problems with data tiles. A call consists of a bounding box specifying the issue’s location and a description of the issue.

VOICE provides three types of QC calls for imagery datasets: Seamline Anomaly, Elevation Anomaly, and Image Anomaly. Each issue type has several subtypes based on common geospatial imagery production errors. For more information on call types and subtypes, see QC Call Definitions. If your instance of VOICE is configured for another data type (e.g., LiDAR or geospatial vectors), VOICE will display QC calls configured for your quality control project and data type.

To create a call, click the Seamline Anomaly, Elevation Anomaly, or Image Anomaly button, depending on the type of issue you identified. Click-and-drag in the map to draw a bounding box around the issue you identified. The Create a New Call dialog will appear. If you’re unsatisfied with your bounding box, click Delete to start over. If you’re satisfied with your bounding box, proceed to filling in details for your QC call.

Choose the appropriate option from the Subtype drop-down in the Create a New Call dialog. The Subtype drop-down is populated only with options for the call type you selected. If you don’t see the appropriate subtype option, select a new option from the Call Type drop-down. Click one of the Example buttons to view example images that illustrate the currently selected call type or subtype. Write a description of the issue you identified in the Call Description box. Click OK to create the QC call.
