inSITE Mobile Best Practices

Whenever possible, use a strong wi-fi connection to download data for offline use and to sync data after performing inspections or maintenance.

When a wi-fi connection is unavailable, move to a location with a strong mobile data signal - at least 4 out of 5 bars - to ensure proper performance for downloading or syncing data.

Download all new work orders for offline use before going into the field to perform inspections or maintenance. Mobile data signals are unreliable, and downloading assignments before you leave will ensure that you’re never stuck in the field without access to your data.

In rural or remote areas, use your mobile device in airplane mode and use inSITE Mobile in offline mode to prevent work interruptions caused by mobile data signal loss.

Battery life can be a limiting factor on long inspection days, especially while using power-draining mobile data and GPS services. Add a car charger and a portable backup battery to your mobile device kit to ensure you’re never stuck without power. When possible, turn off your device’s screen while charging on breaks or en route to your next location. Switching your mobile device into airplane mode and working in inSITE Mobile’s offline mode can also save battery life in the field.

Sync data with the inSITE database as often as possible - at the end of each work day as a minimum. Syncing regularly ensures that your progress is stored securely in the inSITE database even if your mobile device is lost or damaged. If you have trouble syncing data even with a strong wi-fi or mobile data connection, contact inSITE support at qisupport@quantumspatial.com with details about your problem.
