inSITE allows you to draw lines and shapes in the map and add text to share areas of concern and notes with your team. You can download and share shapes and notes in a .txt file that your team members can open in inSITE. You can export shapes in shapefile format for use in GIS software like ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS.
Drawing Shapes

To add a point, click the Point button. Click once in the map where you want the point to appear.
To add a straight line, click the Line button. Click and drag in the map to draw the line.

Shape Styles
Use the style gallery and dropdown menus to change the appearance of points and shapes. The Preview box shows your current style.
For points, use the style collection dropdown to view different collections in the style gallery. Click on a style in the style gallery to set it as your current style. Change the value in the symbol size box to make your symbol larger or smaller.
For lines, click on a style in the style gallery to set it as your current style or use the style dropdown menus to set a custom style. The Alpha menu adjusts the transparency of the line: a value of 0 makes the line is completely transparent, and a value of 1 makes the line completely opaque.
For simple shapes and polygons, click on a style in the style gallery to set it as your current style or use the style dropdown menus to set a custom style. The Alpha menu adjusts the transparency of the fill color: a value of 0 makes the line is completely transparent, and a value of 1 makes the line completely opaque.
Showing Measurements
Check the show measurements box to calculate and display distance and area measurements for shapes you draw. Use the Area Units and Distance Units dropdown menus to select the appropriate units to calculate.
Writing Notes
Click the Text button. Type your note in the Text box. Use the Font Color and Font Size dropdowns to change the style of your note. Click in the map to place the note.
Sharing Drawings and Notes
Click Save to download a shareable .txt file of your current drawings and notes. If your web browser does not ask you to select a name and location for the file, you need to enable your web browser's save prompt.
Click Open and select a .txt file to view drawings and notes shared by a team member. The map will zoom to the extent of the shared drawings and notes.
A future version of inSITE will allow direct sharing with approved team members inside the platform, eliminating the need to download and send .txt files.
Exporting Drawings for GIS
Click Export to download a .zip file containing shapefiles of your drawings for use in GIS software. The .zip file will contain one shapefile for each type of drawing - point, line, and polygon. Notes are not included in shapefile exports.
